Let's fall into a new season of poetry with a luminous reading by Joan Baranow and Matthew Gellman. Come out for the poems and cool conversation. Or maybe just for the refreshments. Doors open at 6:15 pm Reading begins at 6:30 pm

Joan Baranow is the author of six poetry books, including Reading Szymborska in a Time of
Plague, winner of the 2021 Brick Road Poetry Book Contest. Her poems have appeared in The
Paris Review, The Gettysburg Review, Blackbird, JAMA, and elsewhere. A member of the
Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Community of Writers, she founded and teaches in
the Low-Residency MFA program in Creative Writing at the Dominican University of CA.

Matthew Gellman’s first book, Before Light, was selected by Tina Chang as the winner of the
2023 A. Poulin, Jr. Poetry Prize and was published by BOA Editions, Ltd. A 2023–2024
National Endowment for the Arts Fellow, Matthew has received many other awards and honors.
His poems have appeared in Poetry Northwest, Narrative, The Common, North American Review, and other publications. He holds an MFA from Columbia University.
