Dementia

By Lily Kun

I found myself in a thunderstorm
I found her alone in a room
I found a key to the home that I left
I left my home to find something new
I found her alive in an empty room
I found a dog on the street
I found a key to something that I had forgotten
The dog had forgotten who had forgotten him before he was found
I found a forgetful dog
I found a hidden alley by my old home
I had forgotten how to find it
And there I left a rusty old key that I hoped to forget too
I forgot the alley that I found
I left my home to find something new
I will forget where it’s found so that I can’t find it again
I found myself in an empty room
