This Poetry Reading Series provides a unique opportunity to hear diverse and unusual sets of readers, pairing local Bay Area poets with visiting poets and writers.

Danusha Laméris’ first book, The Moons of August (2014), won the Autumn House Press Poetry Prize. Her second book, Bonfire Opera, won the Northern California Book Award in Poetry. Her work has been published in The Best American Poetry, The New York Times, Orion, The American Poetry Review, The Gettysburg Review, Ploughshares, and Prairie Schooner. The 2018-2020 Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz County, she co-leads Poetry of Resilience webinars with James Crews and is on the faculty of Pacific University’s low residency MFA program.

Benjamin Gucciardi’s first book, West Portal (2021), won the Agha Shahid Ali Prize in Poetry. He is the author of the chapbooks Timeless Tips for Simple Sabotage (2021) and I Ask My Sister’s Ghost (2020). His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in AGNI, Alaska Quarterly Review, The American Poetry Review, Best New Poets, Harvard Review, Orion Magazine and have been featured in Poetry Daily and Verse Daily. He works with newcomer youth in Oakland, CA through Soccer Without Borders, an organization he founded in 2006.
