A collection of thirty-one narrative persona poems that tell a reconstructed story excavated by daughter Margaret Stawowy while caregiving for her mother, Doris, who suffered from dementia. Beginning with a birth certificate that contained inaccuracies, Margaret researched Ancestry and 23andMe to discover that her mother was adopted (something her mother had long suspected). Further, she learned key details and identities of biological family members. These poems tell a story of longing, betrayal, and abandonment while demonstrating how unacknowledged family history can echo through succeeding generations. Come hear these poems to be read by various readers!
